STRAVA CLUB - MAMMOTH GRAN FONDO
Why are you changing to a Virtual Mammoth Gran Fondo?
Due to COVID-19 and State regulations, we are not able to host our traditional Mammoth Gran Fondo but we still want to encourage all of you to ride your bike, challenge yourself, and support the Eastern Sierra.

What is the Virtual Mammoth Gran Fondo?
It is a month long challenge - September 1-30 (extended through October 31) - for you to ride your bike as much as you can, take on routes you have never done before, push towards a new goal, and if you are able to visit Mammoth Lakes we will have the three different Gran Fondo routes available for you to do in a self-supported ride.  MMCF or Mammoth Gran Fondo will not be providing aid stations or other support for the virtual challenge; please be prepared and ride safely.

Is there going to be a day when people are planning to ride the Gran Fondo Routes?
There is not a specific date, but we are excited to see so many people wanting to visit the Mammoth Lakes area to enjoy the amazing road biking.  Your riding would be self-supported and we strongly encourage you to plan out water and mechanical support, especially if you plan to ride the 100 mile route.  We would recommending joining the Stava Club - "2020 Virtual Mammoth Gran Fondo" to connect with fellow riders to find riding partners if you would like.

When can I get registered for the Virtual Mammoth Gran Fondo?
It is super easy - go to give.mammothfoundation.org and sign up as an individual or join/create a team with your friends.

How does the fundraising part work?
We have made this as simple as possible for you to join, fundraise, and have a great time.  You need to create a profile in our fundraising platform and then reach out to your network via email, social media, bike messenger, or phone call and encourage them to join you in supporting educational and athletic programs for youth in the Eastern Sierra.

Are there prizes for fundraising?
Yes, most definitely!  We will provide a super limited edition Mammoth Gran Fondo t-shirt to each person who fundraises $50 or more.  Plus, the top five fundraisers will get an "Ultimate MMCF Super Swag Bag" that will be jam packed with high-end brand name clothing, gear, and other items you never knew you needed to have in your life.

In addition, if you fundraise $1k or $2k, your name will be added to the raffle to win the following prize packages, limit one winner per level:

Super Fan Level 1

Can I put my 2020 Gran Fondo registration fees towards my fundraising goal?
Of course!  Please be sure to contact us - events@mammothfoundation.org - so we can credit your fundraising account in our platform with your registration fee amount.  Please be sure to create your fundraising profile before reaching out to us.

How do I track my cycling progress for the whole month long challenge?
There are many options available to track your cycling progress, Strava is generally the most popular.  We have also created a Stava Club - "2020 Virtual Mammoth Gran Fondo" - that we encourage you to join to challenge yourself and see what other riders are doing.  Our fundraising platform and associated prizes are not based on your total miles.  We do encourage you to tag us (Mammoth Gran Fondo + Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation) in your social media posts so we can cheer you on and share your achievements and contributions to the MMCF mission.

ABOUT THE MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Mammoth Gran Fondo is a fundraising event for  Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation.   The funds raised from the Mammoth Gran Fondo go to support the mission of MMCF to support athletic and educational programming for the youth in the Eastern Sierra.  MMCF currently owns 36 road bikes and 9 mountain bikes which they loan to children in Mammoth during the summer. MMCF leads weekly road bike rides with these kids and encourages them to participate in the Gran Fondo and the mountain bikers are part of the Mammoth Mountain Bike Team for middle and high school competing  in the NICA race league.
